What on earth is going on, another first impressions post means a new watch doesn't it? I have a problem, I admit it. Admission is the first stage to recovery in addiction. Actually I think I'll remain addicted for a while because this watch is stunning and I love that feeling, the raw hit of horological rapture you get when unboxing a new watch, especially a grail piece. Maybe grail is a bit strong, but it kind of is. To clarify, it's a few months of buying with a back log of blogging, a couple years of backlogging...
This watch was on my best watches of 2022, but not my 'top watch wants' post for 2023. That's because I thought this watch was a limited edition of 190, and a dress watch wasn't on my list. I was mistaken, the steel version isn't limited, the two other precious metal ones are. So, when I stumbled across this pre-owned one for a reasonable price, I was pleasantly surprised, but my wallet was just like, you just bought the god damned Tudor Ron Burgundy, don't be stupid. So, I added to my favourite on Chrono24 and waited for a sign. The sign soon came in the form or a price reduction. So, I made a cheeky offer that was refused hard. Then I waited, I thought, maybe it would sell and I would be pushed off the fence I was sitting on. It didn't go.

So, then after much deliberating, sitting, rocking back and forth in a stupor, atop that fence, I made another offer. And you guessed it, it was accepted. These retail for £2,250, but there are discounts to be had on new ones, I saw one for £1912.50. Initially up for £1700, then £1500, I snagged it for less, to be disclosed in the full review. It is in mint condition, with box and papers. Never be afraid to make an offer.
I am so happy with it, it's a really elegant and classy piece but not so posh you couldn't wear it jeans and a smart t-shirt. The blued hands catch the light as do the main feature of this timepiece, the engraved arabic, breguet style numerals. They are stunning, this watch doesn't have model name, which I find annoying unless it is the 190th Anniversary edition, which is just lazy. I must christen it, long live the Longines Sexy-Time.
Oh yes, that dial, those numerals, them hands.
The only issue with the Sexy-Time (I might have to change that), is the rotor, it is noisy. And it is a bit annoying though, on the wrist, at my desk typing, I can occassionally hear it. Some things are made to be seen, not heard. especially when you just want to ogle that thing (watch it). It takes away from the experience, as it undermines the overall quality. A shame, though relatively minor, I would have been more annoyed if I'd paid full price - I'll have to have a word with Mr Longines. It looks great though, absolute class, low profile but still packs a punch. I love it.
Yours Masterfully,
Alvin
