The Theowrist is a watch blog with a logical twist, pondering the various thrills and ills of watch ownership, watch collecting and watch neurosis. Exploring why I like watches, I share my watchbox, and open the caseback of my mind to see what is going on in the twisted ticking brain of a watch theowrist. It is unfortunate at times, but I like watches, I like them a lot.

First Impressions | Casio MQ-27-1B - The Blacktangle.
Once upon a time, last month, it began. And so, it continues. And what's this, two posts in a week? Yes, well this one was planned and the other was on a whim after seeing that Tudor Monarch, oooweee I like that. This then is the second purchase of the year, and it is another non-round watch that was bought for a number of very good reasons, at least I think they are... But would the right angular proportions find a home-sweet-home on my famously rather slim arm ankle. The Bl

Watches & Wonders | Tudor's New Watches 2026 + JLC, Zenith & Cartier.
Let's just get the elephant in the room poached and the tusks removed (that's a joke, I abhor such behaviour), The Rolex 2026 offerings are all pretty lame. The Tudor newboys, however, are not. Well, mostly they are not. The Black Bay 54 in blue is very nice, the Royal is just ok and the Black Bay 58 (regular and GMT) are the same old. It's the Monarch and BB 58 Ceramic that are the winners up in here. Image: Tudorwatch.com It's the same case as the old Black Bay Ceramic

Why I considered buying a fake watch?
Hello watch fam, hello 2026 and belated happy new year to all y'all still stopping by for a look into my world of watches. My apologies (actually sorry not sorry) for the lack of posts and presence, I just haven't been feeling very watchy, timey or horological-ly. Maybe the tide is turning though, as I consider selling a few pieces to create a more sensible collection and upcoming travel forces me to think differently about watch wearing. I will venture to tropical climes soo

The Death of 2025 | this time it's different.
It's been a year...that's for sure. In a worlds first, I sold more watches than I bought! Can you believe that!? I cannot. This year I sold 11 and bought just 2 - the Tudor Black Bay Pro and the Nomos Club. That's it, two watches - last year I bought 5, I believe - the year before it was an unhealthy 13. I still have over 40 watches though. Unbelievable. This is a bit of an anticlimax in terms of watchlife action. But what does that mean? That I'm being sensible or that my fl
